Die an der UN sehr einflußreiche Organisation verkündete vor einigen Tagen:

The World Autism Organisation (WAO) represents and speaks for people with an Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) and their families to advocate for policy change, quality services and support for all people with an ASC. WAO is expanding its networks by developing its knowledge sharing programmes, promoting research and helping to make a meaningful difference to the lives of those with an Autistic Spectrum Condition around the world. WAO is now an Observer Member of IDA.
Tatsächlich ist diese Organisation ein weiterer Elternverein, nachdem über die nationalen "Behindertenverbände" bereits Autismus Deutschland und Co indirekt Mitglieder bei IDA sind. Aktiv scheinen dort Eltern, Forscher und möglicherweise einzelne erwachsene Autisten zu sein, die jedoch keine Ämter innezuhaben scheinen. WAO legt einen Schwerpunkt seiner Aktivität darin Forscherkonferenzen zu organisieren. Tendenz der Zielsetzung darf man in der Heilung von Autismus annehmen. Aktivitäten bezüglich CRPD oder Disability Studies sind nicht bekannt.
